This depiction of Pope John Paul II during an outdoor Mass is often seen as an analog of the Catholic Church under increasing secular pressure of changing times and soon-to-come abuse scrutiny; The Pope leans on his staff against the wind as if reveal that only those who remain steadfast to Jesus Christ's values will prevail, and those that have not shall be blown away.
This is a digital art treatment to an original oil painting I made years ago, in turn based on open press footage. The original painting was sold at a charity auction. Added quote from James 1:12
